Max Machine & Manufacturing, LLC. Tampa, Florida
Bruce Messerman, President

We wanted a easy to use wireless DNC system for our shop. Having Haas, Fanuc,

and Milltronics CNC's to connect, Highland's ShopLink Wireless was
recommended by several
other machine shops in our area. A year after we
installed ShopLink wireless we moved into
our new facility, once the CNC's were
powered up they were communicating, no wire to install
no connectors to
assemble, no hassle, period. ShopLink wireless and Highland's support is
perfect,
we are totally satisfied.

Superior Tire & Rubber Corp.
Joe Tomassoni, Specialty Development Engineer
For many years we used ShopLink DNC products in our machine shop. When it was
decided to make the upgrade to wireless DNC, ShopLink again was chosen for price

Our decision to purchase Shoplink wireless for loading programs to our
Haas CNC's was easy. We asked for and received the 14 day no obligation demo
system. Highland remoted into our computer, loaded the software, configured the
system, then demonstrated the wireless program transfers to a couple of our Haas
CNC's, perfect. We bought the system for the entire shop. After delivery of the
rest of the wireless system, Highland again remoted into our computer, finished
the configuration, tested out the communications and answered every question.
Highland went the extra mile and assisted in configuring "DNCAdmin" on a wireless
laptop so we can control Shoplink file transfers from anywhere in the shop. It was
a great experience to work with Highland and have them exceed our expectations.

When we investigated wireless communications for our CNC's in our machine shop
Shoplink Bluetooth wireless caught our attention. It was a total package that was
compatible with our Haas, Fanuc, and Dynapath controls and was the most cost
effective. I must say I am extremely impressed with Highland's products, service
and technical knowledge. After our very successful initial installation we again
expanded the system and remain very pleased. Highland’s technical support is
outstanding. Our installation and integration went without a hitch.

DAU is well known as a company specializing in solving thermal management
problems, particularly for the high power electronics industry.
Shoplink Bluetooth wireless communications for CNC's was DAU's choice for
wireless DNC. Shoplink is an elegant solution to part program management with
wireless communications. We looked at many DNC systems over the last year or
two. This system is by far the price leader. The lack of proprietary overpriced
hardware is what sold me on this system. I made one phone call and everything
was provided from start to finish, we are very satisfied. The ability to start small
with a few machines and expand as we grow was a big plus also. Where else can
you get a full wireless DNC System for your small shop for under $2K. We were
up and running in one afternoon. This was a “best buy” for me. I haven’t seen this
kind of value in a product in some time.

We upgraded our DNC to the ShoplinkDNC LOW COST WIRELESS bundle and are
extremely satisfied with Highland's great phone support assisting in our installation.
During the installation and setup Jerry bent over backwards to give us the “BEST”
service I have gotten in the last 15 years or so. There are companies that
“TALK THE TALK”  but ShoplinkDNC definitely “WALKS THE WALK”.
More importantly than that, the product works flawlessly.
We are now wirelessly communicating to HAAS, FANUC, FADAL and YASNAC controls.
The ShoplinkDNC user interface makes navigation through our embedded folder
structure very easy and choosing a NC program for editing, viewing or transferring
to the controls could not be easier.

The ShoplinkDNC LOW COST Wireless Bluetooth Bundle works perfectly with our
Milltronics, Fanuc controls version Fanuc 10 and Fanuc 6 and was easy to
install, easy to use and the price is unbeatable. Where our prior wired Predator
system only worked at 4800 baud with our Fanuc 10's, ShoplinkDNC now works
at 9600 baud, Wirelessly. Just installed a Highland BTR in the Fanuc 6 which allows
256kbyte programs to run, 16 times the size of what would run from memory, this is
great.

We used the Shoplink Indexed Library system for 15 years. We upgraded to the ShoplinkDNC Server because of Highland's consistent technical assistance in fulfilling our requirements. The prior system was upgraded to a Windows XP PC running ShoplinkDNC Server using several Comtrol ethernet Devicemasters for CNC connectivity. 3 Shop terminals are connected for manual transfers although all the CNC's typically use the remote mode transfer from the CNC. Highland converted thousands of our NC programs using the prior 20 digit part numbering system to the native Windows long filename convention using their conversion program and provided professional installation and training.

Fleck Machine having used Shoplink for 15 years, upgraded to the ShoplinkDNC Server running on a Windows XP PC using a Comtrol multi-port PCI board with Surge panel. We use the Highland editNC editor on several stand alone workstations to allow the operators to use a full strength NC program editor. We are using the remote mode feature which enables the operators to control Downloads and Uploads from each CNC or from the ShoplinkDNC Server. Several Highland BTR's on tape oriented machines are running on ShoplinkDNC Server just like before. Highland DNC did the installation and training and transitioned from the previous system to the ShoplinkDNC Server with hardly any downtime. Highland has provided great technical support and I would highly recommend ShoplinkDNC Server as your DNC system.

We upgraded to ShoplinkDNC Server from having used the Dos Shoplink with little to no down time for 15 years. We use ethernet Comtrol Hubs to connect to the CNC's and a Windows NT PC running ShoplinkDNC. Like the prior system we were able to use the Shoplink rugged terminals as the operator interface which required no retraining for the operators. The software is very flexible and user friendly. We can now upload and download all of our machines without waiting and can be editing at the same time. The new drip feed feature is easy to use and is easy to search and start anywhere within programs for ease of operation. Highland DNC, Inc. has provided excellent customer support and training which is why they are our preferred DNC vendor.

Recently, we upgraded to ShoplinkDNC Server after using the Shoplink Node product for 12 years. The Nodes were replaced by Comtrol Devicemasters to which our CNC's are connected.  The Shop Terminal and CNC line terminal function is virtually unchanged so the operators have had little trouble adapting to the upgrade. We now can use terminal mode on our Cincinnati 850 controls and remote mode requests on our other controllers allowing the operators to transfer files from their machines. Highland installed the upgrade and trained the operators and supervisors. The upgrade was performed without any loss of production. In addition to the technical success of the transition, we enjoyed a good experience during the process as well. Highland was thorough and spent the necessary time to work through the many controls used by our CNC’s. Highland was especially careful to train our network maintenance person as well as work out final hardware details with him.  Overall, I would say it was a pleasant and rewarding experience.

Our facility used the Shoplink Nodes and DNC Windows for over 13 years. Our goals in upgrading were to use a Windows XP DNC server PC, thereby eliminating the Nodes and preserving the Shop terminal interface which the operators were used to. Many newer machines are now using the remote mode feature and the operators transfer files directly from the machines. We have 6 Devicemasters distributed over Ethernet throughout our facility connected to our cnc's and networked back to the PC DNC Server running ShoplinkDNC Server. Configuration and support of the ShoplinkDNC is very intuitive and overall dnc functionality has been greatly enhanced.

After years of tireless operation Shoplink and its Hubs were retired. It's new replacement was ShoplinkDNC Server using ethernet Devicemaster RTS8's running on a Windows XP PC serving 23 CNC machines. Some pre-configuration was done by Highland on the PC but the bulk of the configuration was done onsite by in house personnel. ShoplinkDNC Server maintains the great ease of use of the old Shoplink but uses new technology and a point an click configuration utility. The former terminal mode operation still works great and new features like file transfers without leaving the CNC and simultaneous port operation really makes production more efficient. The bottom line is, ShoplinkDNC works great, was very cost effective and Highland provided excellent assistance.

addition to the competitive and affordable pricing. The new platform uses an
ethernet Devicemaster to connect CNC's with the ShoplinkDNC software, an
interface that is both flexible and scalable for meeting future requirements.
The configuration utility and ShoplinkDNC Server user-interface is simple and
intuitive to manage. Overall the new solution provides all the functionality of
the previous Highland product (no re-training for operators) and has secured
a sustainable workflow for years to come.
