About Highland DNC

Shoplink innovations

In the instance of a pre-existing ShoplinkDNC Server that may already be serving
wired CNC's
there is a way to put the ShoplinkBTA on a remote PC closer to the
desired CNC's to be connected wirelessly with ShoplinkBTS serial adapters.
This must be a networked PC on the same network as the
ShoplinkDNC Server.
This essentially allows the USB port of the ShoplinkDNC Server to be
extended
to this remote PC. This product "USB over Ethernet" can be purchased from
www.kernelpro.com at http://kernelpro.com/purchase.html#uoe for $89.95 for
a Server (Remote PC) Client (ShoplinkDNC Server PC) 2 USB device
connection.
1 USB device connection is required to operate the ShoplinkBTA on
the remote PC from Shoplink.

ShoplinkDNC Server implementation requires a customer supplied PC of recent vintage. A modest investment of $600 - $1000 for a 2Ghz P4 (or better), 256 Megs, CD (CDRW for local backups is preferred), Video resolution  1024 x 768, networked or stand alone, depending on source of NC program files. The customer will also provide the serial connectivity, multi-port communications board (surge suppressed mounting panels preferred), or Ethernet serial devices.

Use a “RocketPort PCI” product if the cnc's to be connected are within 100 to 125 feet
of cable, where the cables will terminate near the DNC PC Server. Locating the DNC PC Server on the shopfloor will allow operators to use the built in ShoplinkDNC user interface, editNC editor and other possible application. (see “Figure a” of CNC Diagram)

Use a “RocketPort DeviceMaster RTS 8” to connect 8 cnc's within 100 to 125 feet of cable, where the cables will terminate at the DeviceMaster. DeviceMasters can be daisy chained 300 feet apart and 300 feet from an Ethernet hub using CAT5 cable. The DNC PC Server can now be located anywhere on the same Ethernet network or 300 feet from the 1st DeviceMaster using a daisy chained configuration or 300 feet from each DeviceMaster using a star network configuration. (see “Figure b” of CNC Diagram)

Recommendations for multi-port and Ethernet serial device vendors are, Comtrol, Digi-International and Equinox.

Discounted pricing can be found using a pricing engine www.pricegrabber.com . Recommendations depending on device and density are available by phone or email.
